The Beatitudes

Blest are the poor in spirit
For the heavenly kingdom is theirs,
And blest are those who mourn for they'll
Find comfort from all of their cares.

Blest are the meek and the gentle,
The world they won't be denied.
And blest are those who thirst for good,
For they shall be satisfied.

Merciful people shall learn
That mercy to them shall return
Pure in heart people shall see
God in all of His great majesty!

Blest are those who seek peace,
Call them the sons of God.
And blest are persecuted souls,
For theirs is the kingdom of God.

So when you are persecuted
Because you love the Lord,
Rejoice, be glad, in heaven there waits
Your very great reward.
